Vintage 2012 - an absolute winner!
While we experienced very hot conditions this summer, the 2012 vintage at Harris Organic Wines is extremely good. Our vineyard coped really well - despite the fact that the vineyard is not irrigated - because we use sustainable methods of viniculture. Our vines are not dependent on bore irrigation and we are very proud of the way that they have proven to be resilient and have again produced their beautiful full-flavoured fruit for the wines made from them. A bumper crop.
Mulching in May: Send it down Hughie!
Now that we've had a bit of rain, Duncan has been busy in the vineyard mulching with the addition of composted chook manure. This means moving mountains of mulch that he has had winnowing for the last 12 months. All of this benefits the vineyard in many ways - which in turn benefits the wine that is produced from the vineyard. Let's all hope however we get our average in rainfall this winter, as we have noticed many old trees in the Valley looking quite stressed.
