"I needed to buy a bottle of wine for a gift and ended up buying half a dozen bottles. The wines I tasted were fantastic, the winemaker very helpful and friendly - he even carried the wine out to my car for me. It's lovely to see an environmentally friendly local company. There's also a small selection of Australian chocolate and other gifts available. They do a loyalty program for repeat visitors too." Reviewed 2 Oct 2012 NEW.
"Thank you for your superb wine-pack: we fell on it with glad cries. I've had a penchant for organic wine for years, and for really good wine for longer, and to come upon them in combination is a great joy." Jan 2009.
"Yes, this wine needs a corkscrew". 2009 Verdelho. On the eye it's a vibrant highlighter yellow. This wine really opened up when it got a little warmer, rather than straight from the fridge. The nose has a rather savoury character to it with ripe tropical fruits and a touch of honey and vanilla. In the mouth it has a lovely milk like texture, flavours of melon, pawpaw and mango come through with a sprinkling of cinnamon. It's a lovely Verldelho and knowing that it has the Australian certified organic seal just makes it all the better.. Verdelho. I'm glad I have another bottle of this in the cellar.. September 2013.
"This weekend we had a bottle of your 99 Shiraz and 2001 Cabernet and both were brilliant . The Swan Valley Shiraz got to breathe for 2 hours before we started and it was worth the wait. Do you have any more of those left? Cheers." Sept 2006.
"Home at long last, and our first bottle of red after such a long journey was none other than a ripper of a bottle of 99 Shiraz, oh my dear lord was it delicious." Jan 2010.
Ray Jordan is an acclaimed writer. He has been writing wine for about the last 30 years. His first articles were published in the early issues of the national wine magazine 'Winestate' in the early 1970's when he worked for the 'West Australian' newspaper. Ray has judged the Swan Valley Wine Show countless times and in 2010 was awarded the 'WA Wine Press Club Jack Mann Memorial Medal' for his contributions to the WA Vino Industry. Here is what he has to say about our wines:
"Duncan Harris is starting to make serious statement with his chardonnay's. This one comes off his organic vineyard and has been fermented with natural yeasts. A light pressing before ageing in America oak has produced a funky style with complex nuances on the nose and a palate that retains long steely thread to the finish. Rich wine of great poise."
"This is a very good follow up to the 2004 which I rated highly. Its been given the full treatment with natural yeast fermentation and then 20 months in a combination of American and French oak. Lifted spicy fragrances merge into the rich savoury dark plum aromas. On the palate the tannins are firm and assertive but the palate soft and generous. Nice wine in the short term."
"Simon and I are quite partial to dessert wines. We picked their Rose Muscat and Tokay (aka Topaque). The Rose Muscat is lovely - sweet but not syrupy, it was light and fresh with a nice hint of acidity, and I even detected lychee notes. Then there is the Tokay, which undergoes an even more natural process - no preservatives are used, and if I recall correctly, winemaker Duncan mentioned that it was not fortified nor filtered, either, so the alcohol content is lower, and there are traces of sediment. It was indulgently delicious - like liquefied spiced honey raisins. https://theindolentcook.blogspot.com.au/"
"Gotta tell you, I drained the whole bottle of this after I'd done a days tasting. It's sweet and lush in a dessert wine style with no added preservative or alcohol. I love it (87/100)"
"I think this is the best wine yet from this producer. This is dark and dense in colour while the nose displays some wonderful spicy savoury dark chocolate aromas. On the palate it delivers with soft textural richness. The fruit has been layered perfectly with the subtle use of oak. Nice wine. Score 90/100, Cellar 6 years."
