Vintage Port is a wine fortified with brandy spirit and made in a single year, not a blend of different vintages. Tawny ports are generally made from a blend of different vintages. Vintage ports can be made from red or white grapes.
Shiraz 2018 Fortified Vintage Port (Bronze Medal). Sun ripened dry-grown organic Shiraz was hand picked at a high sugar level from our local Swan Valley vineyard on the 6th March. After crushing, the ferment was started with natural yeasts and continued at 30C until the ferment proceeded through 11 Baume'. Then the must was drained, basket pressed and returned to an open fermenter. Once the sugar was a desirable level the wine was fortified with certified organic neutral brandy spirit prior to underground cellaring and maturation.
A light red colour and a palate of rich mulberry, cherry and toffee flavours. Sometimes described as
Vintage Port - this wine has a sweet yet refined finish and a great acid to fruit balance.
